Production of Kettle, Thins, Cheezels and CC’s snacks will ramp up in western Sydney under $223-million plans lodged by Snack Brands Australia.
The state significant development would create a 27,385sq m food manufacturing facility alongside the existing distribution centre at 2 and 14 Distribution Drive, Orchard Hills.
The combined 104,323sq m site is part of Altis Property Partners’ first estate industrial precinct on Mamre Road, which was rezoned in June 2020.
The factory includes a warehouse area, office space, 160 additional car parking spaces and outdoor pallet storage area, and has been designed by HL Architects.
The new plans would bring the total gross floor area to 57,672sq m including the $200-million distribution centre completed last year.
Altis purchased the 48.35ha precinct in December 2015, creating part of its $4-billion portfolio including land leased to Village Road Show Theme Parks.
Next door to the first estate industrial precinct, Altis has started working on a $1-billion logistics estate with Frasers Property Industrial.
Snack Brands Australia was recently sold by Philippine Stock Exchange-listed company Universal Robina Corporation.
German-based Intersnack Group picked up the Australian arm along with New Zealand’s The Griffin’s Food Company.
The sale, for an undisclosed price, is expected to close this month.
