The Urban Developer is thrilled to host legendary property developer Soheil Abedian as a keynote speaker at Urbanity ’18.
Soheil Abedian, founder and executive chairman of Sunland Group Limited, will be sitting down with fellow renowned developer Iwan Sunito (Crown Group) in a moderated conversation with Adam Di Marco, founder and publisher of The Urban Developer.
Soheil Abedian started Sunland Group Limited in the late eighties and immediately went to work transforming skylines across Australia.
He garnered early acclaim as the man who convinced designer Gianni Versace to build Palazzo Versace, the first ever fashion-branded hotel.
Later, he shattered records with the construction of Q1, once the tallest residential tower in the world.
Abedian was originally trained as an architect and his passion for design is prevalent throughout his work. Abedian's philosophy, "architecture as art", informs his approach to urban development and shaping cities.
Despite recently handing the reigns of managing director over to his son, Sahba, Soheil Abedian remains as active today as ever before.
He continues to shape Sunland’s legacy as its executive chairman while also overseeing the company’s charitable arm, the Sunland Foundation.

Grace on Coronation is a trio of residential high-rises designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid.
The buildings, inspired by blooming flowers, contain 486 apartments and eight waterfront villas, overlooking the Brisbane River.
The towers are connected by 7,300sq m of landscaped public parkland, complete with a 130-metre-wide riverside viewing platform.
Grace on Coronation is currently in limbo, with a recent judgment from the Court of Appeal finding that the development had exceeded the strict height limits outlined in the planning scheme.
Another waterfront development by Sunland, the $85 million Marina Concourse is located between the Nerang River and the Royal Pines Resort.
It is the capstone of an ambitious master plan that combines 110 luxury apartments with an assortment of dining, shopping and recreational spaces for the larger community.
Since its completion, Marina Concourse has won several major accolades, most notably the 2016 National Apartment Complex of the Year at the HIA-CSR Australian Housing Awards.

The Magnoli Apartments are a pair of mid-rise residential buildings located a stone’s throw from the shores of Palm Beach.
Launched in May this year, the 12-storey buildings offer a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments starting at $395,000.
These lush exteriors complement Sunland’s other projects in Palm Beach, including a sprawling community park, two pocket parks and the tree-lined streets of the nearby Magnoli Residences development.
