Plans for a new luxury apartment tower featuring super-sized penthouses in the St Kilda Road precinct are underway.
Developers KMK Developments and Skyhomes Melbourne Pty Ltd have submitted a development application with the City of Port Phillip for K1 Union Street, a 13-level apartment building with 13 penthouses. Each penthouse would be spread over an entire floor and feature three or four bedrooms.
Designed by DE atelier architects, the exterior of the building would incorporate a 'sky gardens living wall' or vertical landscaping theme. Cantilevered planters with the capacity to accommodate small to medium trees would be positioned along the southern and western elevations. The lift core would incorporate a series of hanging planters attached to a mesh screen.

The apartment development would offer 26 vehicle spaces and a rooftop amenities level with a pool.
The 612sqm site currently has a three-level apartment block.
