Sydney Olympic Park The Destination For High-Rise Houses


Developer Ecove has created a selection of super-size, four-bedroom apartments in its Boomerang project on Olympic Boulevard which cater for the needs of growing families and couples seeking extra space and comfort.

The apartments are 178 square metres and have floor-to-ceiling glass facades of around 36 metres - twice the frontage of a standard house block in the adjoining suburb of Concord.

The up-scale apartments are on the upper levels of the 38-level tower and will provide panoramic views north over Homebush Bay to Chatswood, east to the Sydney CBD, south over Bicentennial Park to Sydney Airport and west to the Blue Mountains.

Traditionally, moving from a house to a strata development involved certain compromises, but not at these Boomerang apartments, according to Ecove Marketing Director Sue Ballesty.

"They have no ‘dead’ zones or wasted space, unlike most houses, and the cleverly-configured floorplans provide well-proportioned rooms and inventive storage solutions," she said.

Boomerang rises above a six-level, six-star commercial centre which will have around 800 square metres of ground floor retail. A communal indoor and outdoor space on level nine embracing gardens, open lawns and seating nooks will help promote social interaction as well as private contemplation.


Designed by Bates Smart, the tower’s boomerang shape gives the development several advantages.

One of the advantages of Boomerang's design is its ability to provide 100% solar access to all its 229 apartments, which means that each apartment in the midst of a cold winter will still achieve a minimum of three hours of natural light a day.

Another benefit to the design is the minimised downdraft and wind impact to the public domain below thanks to its curved corners.

Boomerang is the result of eight years of resident feedback and design experience we’ve gained at Sydney Olympic Park,” Ms Ballesty said.

“One example of this is sensibly locating the majority of living areas behind a recessed balcony or wintergarden to provide shading during the hot summer months and sheltered alfresco living options year-round.”

Kitchens are positioned to ensure whoever is preparing the meal can enjoy the views and feel part of the action. They have stone benchtops and splashbacks, polyurethane joinery, a Smeg gas cooktop, externally ducted rangehood, electric oven, and a dishwasher. Cupboards and drawers have a soft-motion system that ensures smooth and silent closure.

Bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms are bedecked in marble with mirrored cabinets, feature lighting, European-styled vanities and basins, frameless shower screens and contemporary tapware.

Because Boomerang is so close to Sydney’s finest sporting venues there is no need for any costly in-house facilities, which helps to minimise levies.

Boomerang is expected to be completed in around two years, and will be near the location of the recently-announced metro station.
