Electric vehicle powerhouse Tesla has submitted a development application (DA) to install a new showroom and service centre at the established 'Homemaker The Valley' centre, located at 1062 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley.
Tesla's intended re-branding of 'Homemaker The Valley' centreTesla's intention is to utilise three levels for car sales and services as part of their commitment to providing technology and products that "foster clean energy ecosystems and continuing the process of reducing the world’s use and dependence upon fossil fuels".
The site currently accommodates a variety of primarily retail/showroom land uses within three separate, multi-storey building structures with limited car parking located between the buildings on ground level and primarily below the buildings within shared basement areas.

Tesla showroom, VictoriaAccording to the DA, the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors is to help expedite the change from a ‘mine-and-burn’ hydrocarbon economy toward a solar electric economy. Its mission is to "accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy" and transform the automotive industry through zero emissions technology.
Tesla service centre, VictoriaTesla's application came after detecting a demand originating throughout Australia, including Queensland. Accordingly, Queensland has emerged as the next focal point of the company’s market growth and brand establishment strategy. Fortitude Valley was identified as an ideal, influential location for a flagship store to support the South-East Queensland region, where there is currently limited brand and infrastructure presence.
If the DA goes forward, the Fortitude Valley site will be part of Tesla's expansion to enhance the attractiveness of electric vehicles (EV) in Australia.
