Developer Celestino has this week commenced civil works on the first gateway intersection into The Gables Box Hill, a $4 billion masterplanned community.
The Gables is located in Box Hill, situated in The Hills district within Sydney’s North West Growth Corridor. Covering over 330 hectares, The Gables is a masterplanned community comprising over 4,000 homes, a large central lake set adjacent to a town centre, 85 hectares of active and passive open spaces, a community facility, two sporting fields, a primary school, new roads and associated infrastructure.
The future four-way signalised road intersection at 105 Old Pitt Town Road will eventually connect The Gables to Windsor Road.
Civil contractors Western Earthmoving (WEM) were awarded a contract worth over $40 million to deliver two gateway intersections into The Gables and earthworks, roads and infrastructure for the first 540 lots.
Matthew Scard, The Gables Development Director from Celestino said that the start of civil works, the recent approval of The Gables masterplan, and the Voluntary Planning Agreement with The Hills Shire Council allowed for the delivery of facilities in the contemporary urban community at The Gables.
“Not only is the project being delivered at no cost to Government, The Gables residents will receive the benefits of living in a masterplanned community that provides over $315 million worth of community infrastructure, services and utilities.
“We are extremely excited to start construction at The Gables. Our ultimate goal is to have our first customers moving into their new homes for Christmas 2017,” said Mr Scard.
Completed over 12 years, The Gables will eventually be home to over 13,000 people and around 4,000 dwellings, with a future mixed-use town centre, multiple open spaces and parklands, sporting fields and a proposed central lake.
John Vassallo, CEO of Celestino said the commencement of the civil works at The Gables sets in place the foundation of Celestino’s vision for the new community.
“Celestino is committed to creating a landmark address at The Gables, where the town centre, education facilities and recreational precincts provide outstanding amenity for the local community,” said Mr Vassallo.
Mr Vassallo added, “We aim to make The Gables one of the most liveable communities in The Hills District and the North West growth area of Sydney,”
“We are creating a new town in north west Sydney, where residents can benefit from The Gables’ high quality local amenity, a variety of community facilities and well connected and safe open spaces. These are all parts of the agreed vision with The Hills Shire Council under the Voluntary Planning Agreement."
