Developers Thirdi Group and Toohey Miller have filed an appeal over a deemed refusal of its residential project with the NSW Land and Environment Court.
The City of Sydney’s council and planning committees failed to make a determination on the application for a residential development at 30A-34 Brougham Street, Potts Point.
Thirdi Group and Toohey Miller first submitted the plans to the council in April 2022.
The WMK Architects-designed project is a a part-five, part-six-storey building with 14 apartments.
The four-storey building sits on the 604.9sq m site with a semi-submerged basement, according to a report lodged with the council in February.
Amended plans were put on exhibition until March 10, 2023, that included 15 per cent of the apartments designed to be adaptable.
The plans include one one-bedroom, nine two-bedroom and four three-bedroom apartments.
Two basement levels with a car lift would offer 14 carparking spaces as well as two motorcycle spaces and 16 bicycle spaces.
The project is estimated to cost $22 million, according to council records.
Documents submitted with amended plans recorded Toohey Miller’s involvement with the project.
That developer’s website confirmed the joint venture on the Brougham Street project, listing the initial plans of 16 apartments in a seven-storey building.
Toohey Miller is known for projects including Onslow Place at Elizabeths Bay and a modern take on art deco in another project at Darlinghurst.
Thirdi’s Luke Berry has expanded his company’s interests overseas to the UKin recent time with projects in Battersea and London’s Vauxhall.
