Emerging designers Those Architects have been appointed as to design Sydney’s
William Street Creative Hub as chosen by
Object: Australian Design Centre.
The decision comes after a closed design competition in which Those Architects were the winners.
Object’s Head of Programs Claire McCaughan said Those Architects had a thorough comprehension of Object’s needs.
“Those Architects deeply understood the area beyond the building we will inhabit,” Ms McCaughan said.
“Their work with us is more than the design of a building. It is the understanding of our desire to be a catalyst for drawing people to William Street and the underutilised Barnett Lane.”
Object’s new centre will take up three shop fronts on ground level and will be highly visible to the public.
It will also play a central role in exhibitions, talks and events.
Simon Addinall and Ben Mitchell are the founders of Those Architects which began in 2013.
One of their designs has already received an Australian Interior Design Award for Workplace Design.
