Time & Place is expanding its apartment pipeline, lodging plans in Manly for a shoptop development with 25 apartments.
The five-storey plans were lodged with the Northern Beaches Council for a five-lot site opposite Manly Oval at 35-43 Belgrave Street.
SJB architects designed the building planned for the 1060sq m site and included two levels of basement parking along with a courtyard above the commercial level and roof terraces by Land and Form.
However, it is far from the biggest project in the Time & Place pipeline, which spans Melbourne and Sydney.
In March, the Melbourne-based developer and Corsair Investment Management were approved for a $500-million mixed-use precinct at Alphinton, including co-working and build-to-rent.
Time & Place, founded by Tim Price has not shied away from major projects in office and hotel sectors either,
In May, the developer along with MaxCap Group were greenlit for a nine-storey office tower in inner Melbourne at Cremorne.
And a year after buying Hotel Lindrum at Flinders Street, Melbourne, for $50 million, Time & Place lodged plans for a 27-storey office tower for the site, replacing 30-storey hotel and residential plans.
The highly anticipated Ace Hotel at Surry Hills was launched last year, boosting supply in the recovering sector.
The Manly project would replace aging buildings at the corner of Belgrave and Raglan streets that are currently tenanted by an opportunity shop, dry cleaners and medical centre.
SJB architects said the design of the J-shaped building took inspiration from the Spanish Mission-style arches in the area with detailed frontage and “playful” ornate parapets.
“The proposed building will draw upon the articulated parapets of Manly and seek to touch the sky in an interesting and sculptural manner as opposed to a continuous flat roof,” the design statement said.
“Arches will be used in the proposed development to create variety and interest in the facade design as well as in the roof form which will frame and define special spaces at the upper level of the building.
“The new building will draw upon the principles of a simple palette of materials with high-quality detailing and playful elements at key moments of the building, such as awnings, entries and upper level balconies.”
