A Brisbane developer has responded to the "man cave" market by offering 14 upmarket storage facilities for cars, boats and jet skis.
The dedicated storage space – "man cave manors" – in R4 Property Group’s The Annex development at Tingalpa in Brisbane’s east, is due for completion in December 2017.
The 14 units range in size from 67-89 square metres and feature polished concrete floors, air conditioning, showers and kitchenettes.
Ray White Commercial TradeCoast's Jared Doyle said an open mezzanine level is standard in all units, as well as 24-hour CCTV security streamed to the owner's phone.
“The development is attracting a lot of attention from downsizers who need extra space and local tradespeople who are opting to enclose their mezzanine as an on-site office,” Doyle said.
Doyle said many residents are looking for external storage solutions for their weekend toys due to the rise of urban living and the reduction of residential yard space.
“You can store your boat securely, clean them on site after use and then enjoy your recreational mezzanine before heading back to the family home,” he said.
“This development is much more than a storage facility, it’s about creating a space where someone can pursue a hobby, run a business or have a big-kid toys room.
“One buyer is looking at combining two units for a restoration business and will have 130 square metres at ground level for his workshop and a massive 50 square metre recreational mezzanine.”
