Toga’s plans for three residential towers of up to 14 storeys have been greenlit, paving the way for the developer’s fourth project in Sydney’s north.
Under the plans for the Macquarie Park site approved by the Sydney North planning panel, the towers of 12 to 14 storeys will add 265 apartments to North Sydney, atop a two-storey podium with retail and office space.
The mixed-use project to be called Macquarie Rise is to be delivered in partnership with the Baptist Union of NSW and Morling College.
The site is at 122 Herring Road, near the Macquarie University Metro station.
Toga has previously developed One Twenty Macquarie, Macquarie Green and Macquarie Central which equated to nearly 1000 apartments in the area over the past 10 years, in the suburb.
Macquarie Rise will also have a 20m lap pool, club lounge with work and study area, pilates studio, gym, and cinema room designed by Turner Studio architects, with interiors by Stack Studio.
Toga managing director Allan Vidor said they were noticing a demographic shift in the area as it matured into a urban centre surrounded by parkland.
“This shift is attracting families to the area, many of whom are opting for apartment living, which allows them to achieve significant value for money in terms of the amenity, location and lifestyle,” he said.
NSW Baptist Union reverend Steve Bartlett said they have been in the community for many years and would continue to shape it for years to come.
“We were delighted to continue our partnership with Toga after the successful completion of 120 Macquarie a few years ago,” Bartlett said.
“The approval of Macquarie Rise marks the next step in the evolution of our Macquarie Park campus.”
Construction on Macquarie Rise is expected to begin mid-2024, ahead of completion at the end of 2026.
