One of three penthouses in Footscray’s premium Victoria Square Penthouse Collection has been snapped up before the Penthouse Collection was launched.
Slated for completion by the end of 2020, the penthouse has been snapped up by a savvy buyer for $2.65 million.
The sale set a record for Melbourne’s western suburbs as the highest price per square for a penthouse.
Growland chief executive Ronald Chan—the Australian-based developer responsible for the $600 million Victoria Square project—is not surprised by the demand for the luxurious penthouses, which boast panoramic views of the iconic Maribyrnong River, Flemington Racecourse, Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne CBD.
“We can’t say we’re surprised the first penthouse sold before our official launch,” Chan said.
“We knew from the outset these luxury residences were going to be truly special, combining the very best in architectural and interior design with an unbeatable location and premium vantage point.
“But we were astounded by the record the first penthouse set for the area. It’s a true testimony to the hard work we’ve all done to ensure this ground-breaking project meets the reputation our company prides itself upon, which is a quality build based on the finest craftsmanship and design.”
The first Victoria Square tower, VS01, is currently under construction and will be finished towards the end of this year.
The first stage includes three penthouses located on the 27th floor of VS01, one of which is the recently sold half-floor apartment, while the remaining two are quarter-floor residences.
All feature three bedrooms and uninterrupted premium views of the Melbourne CBD and beautiful Port Phillip Bay.
One of the key attractions for the new owner of the record-breaking Victoria Square penthouse, Nick, is the fact that the developers prioritised his needs by being open to customisation.
“My wife and I are at a stage in our lives where we’re ready to downsize, but we still want some space,” Nick said.
“In our discussions with Growland, the possibility of combining two quarter-floor penthouses into a half-floor apartment was raised. And we found it to be the perfect solution.”
For Nick, choosing a penthouse was an extremely attractive option as he will no longer have to perform home renovations or tend to maintenance issues.
“Quite frankly, I’m at the point where I’m tired of lawn mowing and garden trimming. I’d prefer to concentrate on living, not garden chores, so I am really looking forward to developing some new habits such as café hopping, and trying out different restaurants,” Nick said.
“This will be as simple as strolling downstairs as Victoria Square is in the hub of Footscray which has a huge variety of food and entertainment options.
“The other advantage is it’s only a nine minute train ride to the city if we want to see a show or go shopping. These were all big factors in our decision to buy a Victoria Square penthouse.”
Apart from the obvious location benefits, Nick and his wife are keen to avail themselves of the wide array of outstanding communal amenities at Victoria Square. These include Australia’s first Olympic sized aerial outdoor running track, pool, in-house cinema and gym.
Two unique entertaining features are a private dining room with commercial kitchen and bar, which will give residents the opportunity to host events both big and small. The second is a 2400sq m Sky Garden: a magnificent open green space set atop the tower affording jaw-dropping panoramas over the city.
