Co-working office space provider WeWork has announced further expansion in Sydney with a lease at the HCF building at 64 York Street in the CBD.
The premises will be WeWork’s fifth site in Sydney after announcing its fourth location at 383 George Street last month.
WeWork has secured 3,600 square meters of flexible work space amenity at HCF House over five floors.
The building has undergone a refurbishment over the last two years. HCF House is the head office for Australia’s largest not-for-profit health fund, HCF. WeWork will be the only commercial tenant in the main building.
The recent refurbishment of HCF House is targeting a 4.5 star NABERS energy rating standard, which now houses the health fund’s head office, along with newly-designed flagship branch, state-of-the-art dental centre and eye care centre.

“We are very excited to announce 64 York St as the second of two new sites in as many weeks that aligns with our Sydney expansion strategy,” WeWork Australia senior director of real estate Jonathan Kearins said.
“64 York St allows WeWork exposure to another historied, iconic CBD location, in a building that will provide great value to our members.
“The close proximity of this new site to our current WeWork locations is testament to the high demand we are experiencing in the Sydney market.”
WeWork also is located at 333 George Street, 5 Martin Place and 100 Harris Street, Pyrmont.

WeWork 64 York St is currently under construction and is expected to open 1 August 2018.
Brisbane appears to be the next Australian frontier for co-working companies with WeWork recently flagging plans a possible Brisbane location. Australian co-working company Hub announced a location in Brisbane’s Anzac Square in early April, securing a 10-year lease at 200 Anzac Square. It will be the seventh location for Hub, a privately-owned co-working company.
