WMK Achieves DA Approval For Potts Point Development

Development approval has been achieved for a new luxury boutique development, 'IDA'. Designed by WMK Architecture for IPM, IDA in inner Sydney's Potts Point will feature just 30 high-end residences. The project will be built on a challenging site, featuring a collection of new and refurbished heritage buildings.

WMK's design cleverly adapts a 1970s timber-framed heritage building into 16 apartments beneath a dramatic pitched roof, and inserts a new contemporary 14-apartment building with lightweight metal clad balconies to its south. The heritage building will be underpinned to allow excavation and construction of basement car parking.

"Achieving DA is a significant accomplishment," said WMK Managing Director, Greg Barnett.

"This is a challenging site, working with heritage buildings. I'm proud to say we have delivered a design that has not only pleased our client IPM, but a design that is also stirring real interest with the local market - all within the City of Sydney's strict requirements."When completed, IDA will boast stunning views of Sydney, elegant gardens, and striking architecture, helping to reinvigorate this pocket of Potts Point.

"IDA will be the final piece in this historic group of buildings, creating an urban oasis within this densely populated part of Sydney," said John Andreas, WMK Director and Architect.
