International property development group Barcam has submitted amended plans for its Macquarie Park student accommodation, upping its apartment numbers and focus on amenities.
The development at 25 Lachlan Avenue was the first off-campus PBSA for Macquarie Park to be approved, back in 2022.
The 15-storey site will now deliver 499 apartments, up from the 488 initially approved. Apartments will have from two to six bedrooms.
Barcam has also suggested it will amend the basement layout for the provision and allocation of carparking spaces and floor plans will amend communal spaces and student rooms.
The revised plans, which will bring the project cost $64 million, also add a rooftop communal open space.
Planned communal spaces include a cinema, lounge areas, a games room and a gym, with meeting spaces and ground-floor study areas.
Architects Rothelowman said at the time that the development “capitalises on the opportunity to activate the public domain”.
“The project is designed to draw students out of their private rooms, congregate together and maximise the student experience. This is how a successful college for learning is created,” Rothelowman principal Ben Pomroy said.
The site is near the Macquarie University Hospital and associated facilities, a metro rail station with bus services, the M2 Motorway, the Macquarie regional shopping centre, as well as a variety of employment and recreational opportunities, service providers and open space.
Macquarie Park has attracted a slew of student projects in recent years thanks to its public transport and university links.
Earlier this year a Singaporean investor filed plans for a $132-million Macquarie Park student accommodation site, which will add 732 beds to the PBSA supply.
