The development party, it seems, is far from over at Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.
BPG Developments has filed plans for a 14-storey tower comprising 68 apartments as well as three integrated double-level townhouses.
It is earmarked for a 1760sq m site at 1053-1055 Gold Coast Highway that backs on to the exclusive beachfront Jefferson Lane enclave.
The Brisbane-based builder-developer, led by Nick Parr and Glen Williams, has returned to the development hotspot after a few years of basking in the sell-out success of its nearby nine-storey, 39-apartment Sable on Palm project.
Under the latest scheme designed by Plus Architecture, a mix of 42 two-bedroom and 22 three-bedroom apartments would be accommodated across levels 2 to 11 and the tower topped by four three-bedroom penthouses.
A trio of double-level three-bedroom townhouses with private outdoor terraces would span the upper ground floor and level 1 fronting the Gold Coast Highway.
According to an assessment report by Mewing Planning Consultants, the townhouses would “provide product differentiation and choice”.
“Given the mix of units, the dwellings will attract a range of people and demographics to live within the area,” it said.
The proposed tower and its material palette have been designed to “reference Queensland’s coastal vernacular”.
“The proposal provides a high-quality and contemporary architectural design outcome that responds to the continually developing and diverse tower forms within Palm Beach,” the report said.
The upper ground level oriented to Jefferson Lane also incorporates 454sq m of communal open space area, including a pool, outdoor deck comprising outdoor seating areas, wellness space and a barbecue area.
The lower ground level includes an entrance and lobby as well as providing vehicular access to 109 carparking spaces, most of them in the two-level basement.
There has been no shortage of proposals for the southern Gold Coast enclave as it leaves its low to midrise past behind.
That includes Christie Leet’s Sherpa Property Group filing upscaled plans for its Palm Beach site in November of last year after a court ruling deemed increased building heights “the natural order of change”.
The ruling prompted Sherpa to lodge a new tower scheme five storeys higher than its initial proposal pitched just two months previous.
In September, Gold Coast developer Tim Gordon and billionaire pub baron Bruce Mathieson revealed plans for a luxury sequel to their $300-million The Mantaray Marina and Residence project.
The duofiled a proposal for a high-end, nine-storey apartment development on a 2185sq m site fronting the Gold Coast Highway and the exclusive dunal strip of Jefferson Lane—the southern Gold Coast’s millionaires’ row.
