How Art Can Elevate Your Project

8c702898-4e37-4843-94a4-093d73468ac5

Developer JGL Properties has partnered with renowned gallerist and art patron Phillip Bacon AM to offer world class gallery-like spaces in its latest project.

Thornton, a premium residential tower being built in the inner-Brisbane riverside suburb of Kangaroo Point, is the latest in a series of luxury apartment projects planned along the city's riverbank.

The tower, that will feature 12 full-floor residences, is a unique creative collaboration between four of Australia’s most celebrated visionaries.

Architect Liam Proberts, chef and restaurateur Thierry Galichet, gallerist and curator Phillip Bacon AM, and artist Ralph Wilson have come together to lend their experience to the project.

Philip Bacon, founder of Philip Bacon Galleries, has provided valuable insight, gleaned from over 40 years of curating and exhibiting some of Australia’s most loved artists, on tailoring each apartment’s gallery space and lighting to allow the resident's art to be displayed to its true potential.

Bacon was also instrumental in commissioning Brisbane-based artist Ralph Wilson to create the signature artwork for Thornton’s foyer.

“The opportunity to get an artist of the calibre of Ralph Wilson involved, one of Brisbane's most loved artists, is truly unique. He’s painting an amazing three panel landscape work featuring the progression of the Brisbane River,” Bacon said.

“Ralph’s pictures are very evocative, very atmospheric, and are totally and utterly Brisbane—he's perfect for Thornton.”

Each Thornton residence will provide over 60 linear metres of gallery art hanging space, unprecedented in other projects. Residents will have the ability to integrate art hanging systems used in leading galleries around the world to seamlessly rotate their collections.

Residents will also take advantage of leading art lighting, provided by world class German lighting firm ERCO which is installed and used across most of the leading museums and galleries worldwide.
