Inside iTWO cx, the Project Option Making Life Easier

0b707634-2b15-46e1-9599-caab2cd31731

The rise in adoption of project management platforms and associated software during the past few years has been nothing short of breathtaking.

Similarly, the number of systems has mirrored that rise, creating a dilemma for potential users across the industry who aren’t happy with their current provider, or else know that they need to update their systems—what is the best solution for me? Is it a specific solution for construction? Who do I call with an issue? How long will it take to implement?

Formerly known as ProjectCentre, RIB’s iTWO cx platform has emerged in Australia and New Zealand as a platform of choice, due to its versatile modules and speedier implementation.

The cloud-based software has been implemented on major infrastructure projects by companies such as ACCIONA. It is used by contractors, consultants, developers, asset owners and project managers who require a system they can implement quickly to extract value and real-life efficiency from.

As the construction industry continues to recover from the isolating effects of the pandemic, the need for the correct underpinning systems, and connection with the people running those systems, has never been so important.

A legacy of practical innovation, a dedication to local service and long-term ease of use are the key aspects that set iTWO cx apart from competitors.

▲ RIB’s long-term approach to iTWO cx is based on experience, feedback and local support.

A legacy of practical innovation

The origins of iTWO cx date back to 1998 when ProjectCentre was launched in Sydney to provide a digital solution for time-consuming, manual construction processes. ProjectCentre developed from its early days as an internet database for revision control documents, into a fully cloud-based collaboration exchange and construction management software.

The widespread popularity of the software led to it being acquired by RIB Software in 2012, integrated with advanced capabilities and rebranded as iTWO cx. The following nine years have seen constant evolution of the iTWO cx product and a long sequence of successful deployments on major construction projects.

iTWO cx utilises a forum-style environment for correspondence, eliminating the reliance on email and creating an effective audit trail for project admins. Streamlined coordination is paramount in modern construction, and the iTWO cx Publication Space ensures the right people always have access to the right documents through a centralised system.

Contracts administration, tendering, defect processes and quality management are all handled through their own efficient modules, with decision-makers able to customise an iTWO cx platform that’s entirely suitable for the project at hand and accessible to all project roles.

▲ Onsite workflows can be easily progressed within the iTWO cx Mobile App.

A dedication to local service

While the advanced functionality is key, it is the people, not the machines, that make the difference for iTWO cx.

iTWO cx business development manager Justin Barlow said that RIB’s understanding of the industry resulted in a commitment to customer care that set the business apart in the construction management space.

“Project delivery teams need value in everything they do,” he said.

“Talent shortages are a real current challenge so we look to how our efficiencies can result in not relying on additional hires to reduce a workload.

“It comes from authentically understanding the real life, day to day problems these teams have.

“Our technology speaks for itself, as it should, but it’s simply good business for us to win clients and then keep winning them over with a commitment to service.

“It’s not just statements we make, we walk the walk.

“We maintain local support desks and local account managers, plus have recruited local senior sales professionals with real industry knowledge to better showcase the value of iTWO cx as a project tool.”

Long-term ease of use

Barlow said that RIB was finalising a new out-of-the-box deployment option for iTWO cx in response to one of the most often cited pain points for project managers.

“Speaking directly with project delivery teams across differing roles, one of the most common requirements for management software is a quick and efficient implementation process,” he said.

“People want an intuitive and logical training period that doesn’t require weeks of “tools-down” discussions to get off the ground.

“We are constantly being asked for a recommendation on workflows so we led with a consultative mindset.

“RIB is talking across many companies and seeing many differing workflow interpretations everyday so we have come back and said: choose from these templates which will drastically speed up your ability to have the system project ready and improves the value for you.

“The market has responded positively.”

This new deployment option will be known as iTWO cx Project Start, and businesses can reach out to their local iTWO cx team to find out more and start a dialogue.

There is clearly latent potential in our industry, and project managers who make the right software choices now will quickly reap the rewards.
