In a landmark move towards addressing Queensland’s housing needs, Saltair Modular has been awarded the contract to construct 34 modular homes at Bundaberg as part of the State Government’s Homes for Queenslanders initiative.
Saltair Modular, a renowned Queensland-based company, is in the process of delivering 24 two-bedroom and 10 one-bedroom modular units in Bundaberg’s east.
Notably, half of these homes have been constructed to Gold accessibility standards, catering to the needs of older Queenslanders and individuals with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
These homes join the recent developments at Kalkie and Avoca, where 16 and seven social homes, respectively, have already commenced construction.
The Bundaberg project forms part of the 600 modular homes outlined in this year’s State Budget, emphasising the Government’s commitment to leveraging modern building techniques to expedite the provision of affordable housing.
Tom Smith, Member for Bundaberg, praised the initiative, stating, “Our community deserves to have every housing option explored, secured, and delivered”.
Managing director of Saltair Modular, Steve Bridger, expressed the company’s dedication to this project, saying, “We are excited to be part of this project, delivering high-quality, efficient housing solutions that meet the diverse needs of Queenslanders”.
“Modular construction offers substantial time savings, allowing us to meet the urgent demand for housing immediately.”
This development underscores the vital role of modular housing in modern urban planning, marking a significant stride towards alleviating housing shortages while maintaining high standards of quality and accessibility.
