The expansion of international hoteliers into the Australian market continues with the first Hyatt House Hotel to open as part of an under-construction luxury Melbourne development.
The hotel, which is expected to open in 2025, will be a part of Holder East’s Oasis Residences, which comprises 19 storeys with 158 residential apartments plus the hotel’s 97 serviced apartments.
Work on the Hayball-designed tower at its South Melbourne site by builder Roberts Co began late last year.
Hyatt House South Melbourne will offer a mix of den, studio and one-bedroom suites featuring residential-inspired design and facilities including refrigerator, stovetop and kitchen islands, and living rooms and plush beds.
With more than 130 locations, the Hyatt House brand “delivers home-like amenities, purposeful service and contemporary spaces, including complimentary home-cooked breakfast for guests, a creatively curated menu at H Bar, and indoor and outdoor communal spaces,” a spokesperson said.
Asia-Pacific Hyatt Group president David Udell said the move reflected “Hyatt’s continued growth of our extended-stay portfolio”.
“The brand brings all the comforts of home to guests who don’t just want to stay somewhere, but to live somewhere, even if only for two nights.
“That means more space for living and working, delivered with flexibility, comfort and thoughtful touches.”
The hotel’s all-day lounge will be available to Oasis residents as well as hotel guests.
It will also offer a gym and communal spaces for “working, socialising or relaxing”.
“Hyatt House South Melbourne will be a vibrant addition to the South Melbourne precinct,” Holder East chief operation officer C.J. Wu said. Oasis Residences is expected to reach completion in August, 2024.
Holder East this year filed plans at Box Hill for a 13-storey office tower on a 662sq m site at 701 Station Street.
The Fender Katsalidis designed plans include retail spaces on the ground floor.
